EU Announces New Recycling Targets
It has been announced that councils will have to recycle 70 per cent of waste by 2030 under proposals announced by the European Commission to cut down landfill.
It is a raise on the current 50 per cent aim to be met by 2020, with new rules requiring at least 80 per cent of packing waste is included.
The EC is also thinking about a total ban on transmitting any waste to landfill which could have been recycled by 2025.
