How Skip Permits Work in Wandsworth

• If the skip is on the public highway/roadway, the skip licence is required.
• If placed entirely on private land (driveway, garden, building site) then the council licence is not required.
• If the skip occupies a parking bay or is in a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), the skip operator must also arrange a parking bay suspension via Wandsworth Council.
• If the location is within a “Red Route” or Transport for London managed road network, you may need additional permission from Transport for London (TfL).

• The skip hire operator must ensure the skip is safely located: not obstructing pedestrian access, highways, gullies or fire hydrants.
• The skip must comply with highway safety standards, have correct site markings if placed on the road (e.g., reflective marking, safe siting).
• The skip must be removed before the licence ends; failure to comply may result in additional charges.

• If a skip is placed on the public highway without a valid licence (or required parking bay suspension), the Council may enforce removal, levy additional charges, or refuse renewal.
