Waste reduction a shopping trend in 2017
Responsible waste disposal and waste reduction are a growing concern for shoppers when it comes to the products they buy.
According to Product of the Year UK, research suggests shoppers in the UK are actively choosing products they believe will help alleviate the waste problem.
2017 is now being hailed as the year when waste reduction products become more of a concern for shoppers, with consumers making the effort to be more aware of what they are buying.
There is so much choice available to consumers today, especially in supermarkets. This can make it harder to discern how environmentally-friendly a product is in terms of waste.
Managing Director of FMCG & Retail at Kantar TNS UK, Eve Dixon, said: “The most successful products are those that engage shoppers on an emotional level such as; low-fat alternatives, products that aim to actively combat the UK’s waste management issues and those that have time-saving multi-functionality – much like the winners across the personal care sector.”
This research highlights the fact that consumers are becoming more engaged with what they buy and how it will be disposed of or recycled when they are finished with it.
